Bio
I was born on June 10, 1977 in Cortland
Memorial Hospital. My mother was 38 years old when she
gave birth to me. Needless to say, I was quite the surprise.
I have two older brothers that were 14 and 15 when I
was born.
I am told I was a good baby, tolerating
my mother dressing me up in different outfits 10 times
a day so she could take pictures of me (Remember, I
am the only girl in the family). I am also told (and
have the pictures to prove it) that I liked baths, musical
mobiles, piano, music, and my brother Steve (especially
when he made weird faces at me).
Here are some random childhood memories:
My parents became religious in my childhood, so I remember
going to Baptist church ALOT. I remember being pretty
obsessive-compulsive back then; I used to line up my
dolls and toys so that they were all symmetrical. I
remember loving to go visit my brother Steve, who was
grown up, married, and really cool. I went to a private
religious school. I remember always feeling like I was
different and that it wasn't ok. My parents took me
on lots of trips and they were both very affectionate.
I had allergies to animals which did not deter me from
touching and hugging every animal I could find. I had
one friend at school named Kimberly, and I didn't get
along with boys. I got detention once from Miss Snavely,
my sixth grade teacher, for passing a note. I didn't
like her.
In my adolescence, I got my best friend
Eden who was my dog and my best friend Wendy, who lived down the street. When
I was 14, I graduated from high school, and took a computer
accounting correspondence course from home. I ran a
day care center, and saved up enough money to buy a
car (ah, the days of no bills).
When I was 16, I went to college and
work, and then the chaos started. In a moment of insanity,
I got married to a guy I had dated from work. We had
lived together for about a year. Three months after
we were married, we started divorce proceedings. When
I left him I was 50 pounds lighter, ALOT happier, and
with the realization that I didn't like possessive men.
I went back to college, majored in
psychology (I knew I wanted to be a psychologist since
the age of 14) moved in with my brother and his wife
(who is now the ex-wife), and found that having a personal
life is great. However, it was in the midst of full-time
school, a full-time job and a part-time job.
It took me awhile to get the hang of
things, but before long I was in charge of my own life
and loving it. I took with me the work ethic my parents
taught me, as well as my need to have fun and be creative
(probably from my genes). I transferred to Cortland
to go to school, and met some new friends.
I graduated from SUNY Cortland, and
went through the hell of applying to graduate school
(I'm fairly sure there is a hell entitled that). I transferred
to graduate school at SUNY New Paltz, and now I am at
Yale University as a PhD student.
In my third year at Yale, yes this
is sappy, I met the man of my dreams, Mike
Ginicola. He is a Physical Education teacher at
a local school in Connecticut and we were instantly
attracted to each other. He is always positive, kind,
and loving, and pretty damn attractive. We share everything
in our lives and there is definitely a cosmic connection
at work. We got married on
August 1, 2004 and couldn't be any happier.
Well, that is my life in progress.
Any life changing events, I'll keep 'em posted.
